SPEARFISH, S.D. – Drivers in Spearfish should prepare for a temporary closure of Main Street beginning Monday as a road improvement project gets underway.
City officials say Main Street will be closed from Jackson Boulevard through the Grant Street intersection while crews complete milling and asphalt overlay work.
The closure is expected to last up to five days, weather permitting. During that time, parking will not be allowed on Main Street, and pedestrians will not be permitted to cross the roadway in the construction zone, although sidewalks will remain open.
The project includes milling the existing pavement, paving, applying a fog seal, and repainting pavement markings.
Officials are urging motorists to follow posted detour routes and use caution around the work zone as crews complete the improvements
