RAPID CITY, S.D. – Two people are in custody following an armed incident and hours-long law enforcement response Sunday evening in Rapid City.
Police say officers were called to a home in the 400 block of East Centennial Street after reports that a man had threatened people with a handgun and fired a shot into the air before retreating inside the residence.
The Rapid City and Pennington County Special Response Team executed a search warrant at the home and safely took 19-year-old Delbert Badmilk the Third into custody. He faces felony charges related to the incident.
Authorities also located and arrested Michael Vanderfeen, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Investigators recovered two firearms from the residence, including one reported stolen and another that had been illegally modified.
Police say the situation was resolved safely, and the investigation remains ongoing.
