RAPID CITY, S.D. – A late-night disturbance at a Rapid City restaurant led to a vehicle pursuit and the arrest of two men early Tuesday morning.
Police say officers were dispatched to a restaurant on Endeavor Boulevard after reports of a vehicle driving through the drive-thru the wrong way and a disturbance involving staff. Before officers arrived, the vehicle left the scene.
A Pennington County Sheriff’s deputy later located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading authorities on a pursuit that ended near the north end of Neel Street. Both occupants then ran into a nearby field on foot.
Police identified the driver as 24-year-old Shawn Hill of Rapid City. Authorities say Hill apparently tripped while fleeing and knocked himself unconscious. After being treated at a hospital, Hill was arrested on charges including DUI, sliming, obstruction, second-degree eluding, and an outstanding warrant.
The passenger, 20-year-old Amos Prue of Rapid City, was also arrested and faces charges of obstruction and underage consumption of alcohol. Police say the original disturbance included Hill allegedly spitting on a restaurant employee before leaving the scene.
