RAPID CITY, S.D. – Residents of western South Dakota will soon have another option for emergency and inpatient medical care as a new community hospital prepares to open in Rapid City.
Exceptional Community Hospital-Rapid City is scheduled to begin accepting patients at 8 a.m. on October 12 at its location on Dyess Avenue. The approximately 22,000-square-foot facility represents a $30 million investment and is the first South Dakota hospital for Exceptional Healthcare.
Hospital officials say the facility will offer 24-hour emergency and inpatient care, trauma services, private patient rooms, digital imaging, laboratory services, an on-site pharmacy, and specialty consultations. Space has also been reserved for future surgical suites.
The hospital will accept major insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE. Officials say the facility was designed to streamline patient care and reduce wait times.
Company leaders say the new hospital will provide additional healthcare access and another treatment option for patients and families throughout the Black Hills and western South Dakota.
