SPEARFISH, S.D. – The Spearfish Chamber of Commerce is preparing for a leadership transition as Executive Director Heather Giffrow announces she will step down from the position on October 16th.
Giffrow has led the chamber for the past four years, overseeing significant growth in membership, event attendance, and community engagement. Chamber officials say membership increased by 11 percent during her tenure, while major events such as Taste of Spearfish and the annual community picnic set attendance and participation records.
Chamber Board Chair Moriah Devall praised Giffrow’s dedication to local businesses, describing her as a hard-working leader who built strong relationships throughout the community.
Giffrow, who moved to Spearfish from Nebraska before joining the chamber, says she is returning to the banking industry and will be commuting to a new opportunity in Rapid City.
The chamber has begun its search for a permanent replacement. In the meantime, consultant Chris Heino will serve as interim director and work alongside Giffrow for several weeks to help ensure a smooth transition.
Former Board Chair Tony Panone says the organization remains financially stable and is well-positioned to continue serving its members during the leadership change.
