RAPID CITY, S.D. – A new national survey is putting two South Dakota cities in the spotlight for driver behavior.
The survey of more than 3,000 drivers ranked Sioux Falls 151st and Rapid City 153rd on a list of cities with the country’s most entitled drivers. Researchers looked at behaviors including risky lane changes, cutting through traffic, and ignoring traffic laws when they’re seen as inconvenient.
The study suggested heavy interstate traffic in Sioux Falls and the mix of local and tourist traffic around Rapid City may contribute to driver frustration.
The survey also found one in four drivers reported experiencing a road-rage incident that went beyond yelling or hand gestures, while 15 percent admitted to using their vehicle to intentionally intimidate another road user.
Despite making the list, neither South Dakota city ranked near the top. Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Las Vegas were identified as the nation’s most entitled driving cities.
