RAPID CITY, S.D. – Law enforcement agencies are searching for a state prison offender who failed to report to his assigned work-release job in Rapid City.
Authorities say 41-year-old James Traversie left the Rapid City Minimum Center on October 28 to go to his scheduled employment but never arrived at the job site.
Traversie is described as 6-foot-2 and approximately 222 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is currently serving prison sentences from Pennington County for possession of a controlled substance and from Meade County for receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle.
Officials say failing to return to custody from a work assignment constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Anyone who sees Traversie or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact local law enforcement immediately.
