RAPID CITY, S.D. – Rapid City police have identified two individuals arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that left one man dead early Tuesday morning.
Authorities say 21-year-old Harley Highwolf of Rapid City was taken into custody on a federal warrant, while 19-year-old Antwon Longvisitor of Rapid City was arrested on an obstruction charge. Investigators have not yet identified the person responsible for the shooting.
Officers were called to a residence in the 1500 block of Kellogg Place around 12:50 a.m., where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries. His identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
Police say evidence and witness statements indicated a blue Chevrolet pickup fled the scene after the shooting. About 50 minutes later, a Pennington County Sheriff’s deputy spotted a vehicle matching that description speeding on Elk Vale Road. The vehicle led law enforcement on a pursuit before stopping near Highway 44 and Lonetree Road.
Two occupants fled on foot but were later located and detained. Authorities also recovered several firearms connected to the vehicle and its occupants.
The Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the homicide and are asking anyone with information to contact law enforcement.
