The Belle Fourche Broncs (0-1) fell 14–1 to Sioux Falls Christian (3-0-1) on Saturday at McKeague Field, as the Chargers used an eight-run fourth inning to take control of the game.
Sioux Falls Christian opened the scoring in the third when Tate Connell drew a bases-loaded walk. Belle Fourche answered in the bottom half with an RBI single down the right-field line from Urijah Hamilton to tie the game at 1–1.
The Chargers broke the game open in the fourth, scoring eight runs on five hits. The inning was highlighted by an inside-the-park home run from Connell, who drove in three runs after a six-pitch at-bat. Sioux Falls Christian added five more runs in the fifth, capitalizing on a series of walks and a wild pitch.
Jake Humpal earned the win for the Chargers, allowing four hits and one unearned run over four innings while striking out seven. Belle Fourche starter Tate Thomsen took the loss, giving up eight runs—five earned—over 3.2 innings.
Hamilton, Trig Thomsen, Raif Parmeter, and Daven Kracht each recorded a hit for the Broncs, with Hamilton driving in the team’s lone run. Connell and Harrison Nickles led Sioux Falls Christian with two hits apiece, while the Chargers drew 12 walks and stole six bases.
Belle Fourche returns to action Wednesday on the road against Rapid City Central.
