For the second consecutive year both the Black Hills State University men’s and women’s basketball teams led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in average attendance. A2 Arena once again proved to be among the toughest home courts not only in the conference but nationally, as the Yellow Jacket men posted a 13-1 (92.9%) mark and the women notched a 10-2 (83.3%) mark, combining for a 23-3 (88.5%) record at home this winter. It was the most home wins for the men since 2010-11 and their best home winning percentage since 2008-09, while they won double digit home games for the fourth time in the last five years. For the women it also marked their fourth season of ten or more wins in the last five seasons as they recorded their best winning percentage at home since 2021-22.
The Yellow Jacket men’s basketball team brought in a total crowd of 27,454 and averaged 1,961 fans during the 2025-26 season, ranking first in the RMAC and third nationally in both. BHSU was one of just three schools in the country to total more than 25,000 fans during the season and average more than 1,900 fans. On seven occasions during the year the Green & Gold brought in more than 2,000 fans and twice reached 3,000 fans. Of NCAA Division II’s top-50 single game crowds, Black Hills State had four rank within the top-20 and five rank within the top-50. The season’s largest crowd and DII era record for A2 Arena came on January 31 as 3,226 fans packed the stands for a rivalry match-up with South Dakota Mines. Nationally, their top single game crowds ranked tenth (January 31 vs. South Dakota Mines, 3,226), 14th (March 7 vs. Colorado Mesa, 3,011), 17th (March 6 vs. Fort Lewis, 2,936), 20th (March 3 vs. UCCS, 2,873), and 47th (February 26 vs. Westminster, 2,359). No other RMAC school made an appearance on the NCAA’s top single game crowd’s list.
The Yellow Jacket women’s basketball team brought in a total crowd of 11,979 and averaged 998 fans during the 2025-26 season, ranking first in the RMAC in attendance average and second in total attendance, and ranking 13th in NCAA Division II in attendance average and 20th in total attendance. It marked the second consecutive year and the fourth time in the last five years that they have averaged 950 or more fans per game during the season. On four occasions the Yellow Jackets played in front of a crowd of 1,000 or more and once played in front of a crowd of 2,000 or more. Of NCAA Division II’s top-50 single game crowds, they were one of two RMAC schools to make the list once and brought in the RMAC’s largest crowd of the year of 2,571 against South Dakota Mines on January 31, which marked BHSU’s largest crowd in A2 Arena during the DII era.
