It’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and Pennington County is recognizing the 911 professionals who answer emergency calls and coordinate lifesaving responses. The county’s Emergency Services Communications Center handles everything from routine calls to critical, high-stress emergencies for Rapid City, Pennington County, and surrounding areas.
The center has been an Accredited Center of Excellence in Emergency Medical Dispatch since 2001 and recently earned accreditation in Fire Call Processing. Officials say this week is a chance to celebrate the dispatchers whose work is often unseen but vital to public safety.
More information about the ESCC and Telecommunicators Week is available on the county’s website.
