Rapid City’s interagency Parole Task Force made a series of arrests last week after a parole compliance check uncovered drugs, paraphernalia, and a stolen camper.
Around 2:55 p.m. on April 17th, officers arrived at a home in the 300 block of East Indiana Street to check on parolee Christian Degeest, age 28. As they arrived, police spotted 23‑year‑old Nikki Richards, also on parole, getting out of a vehicle. She was found with methamphetamine. The driver, 35‑year‑old Hayden Hensrud, initially gave a false name before being identified. A third person, 33‑year‑old Rayla Habben, answered the door and was also confirmed to be on parole.
Inside the residence, officers saw drugs and paraphernalia, prompting them to obtain a search warrant. The search turned up methamphetamine throughout the home. A detached garage was also searched, where officers found 33‑year‑old Bruce Bunkelman and 36‑year‑old Samantha Dewitt, both in possession of meth. Bunkelman was also on parole. Another resident, Echo Blodgett, was contacted and found to have an active warrant. Police also recovered a camper reported stolen back in 2022.
In total, the parole check resulted in six arrests for drug possession, parole violations, false personation, and outstanding warrants.
Then, just after midnight on April 18th, officers located Christian Degeest again—this time standing in a truck bed on Federal Avenue. A search found meth and paraphernalia, leading to additional charges and a parole hold.
