The Sturgis City Council has approved a resolution establishing the framework for the 2026 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as the city continues working on the future of its Rally Sponsorship Program.
City Attorney Eric Davis says the resolution allows Sturgis to keep administering and executing sponsorship agreementsas an interim measure, while the city transitions toward a long‑term plan that would shift commercialization of the program to a third‑party operator. Under that model, the city would still retain all policymaking authority, municipal police powers, and ownership of city property and intellectual property tied to the Rally.
Davis says the council is still deciding what pathway it will take for future sponsorship agreements, and discussions will continue in the months ahead.
