A familiar name is back in the Sturgis mayoral race. Local business owner Tammy Bohn has officially announced her candidacy for Mayor of Sturgis, running on a platform centered on transparency, responsible budgeting, and support for essential city services.
Bohn, who owns Sturgis Guns, has been involved in several high‑profile legal challenges against the city’s current administration. Earlier this year, the South Dakota Supreme Court ruled in her favor in a case involving a petition to remove the city manager position from local government.
Her campaign priorities include protecting taxpayer dollars, strengthening police, fire, ambulance, and animal‑shelter services, and supporting local businesses year‑round. Bohn says her goal is a city government that listens to residents and responds to their needs.
To connect with voters, she’ll host weekly town hall meetings every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. starting May 6 at Sturgis Guns on Lazelle Street.
