The Meade School District Forty‑Six One School Board reviewed its preliminary budget during its May meeting on Monday night.
Business Manager Brett Burditt recommended approval of the fiscal year 2027 preliminary budget, totaling $24.6 million for the general fund and $8.6 million for capital outlay. The preliminary budget will now be published, as required, following the May meeting.
The board also scheduled a public hearing on the proposed 2026-2027 budget for June 8th at 6:00 p.m. The hearing will be held at the Williams Administrative Building boardroom.
In addition, the board approved wage and benefit increases for staff. Board President Justin Jutting recommended a half‑percent raise for Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt, who had requested no increase. Jutting said all administrative staff and most district employees received the same increase and noted the superintendent has not had a raise in three years.
The board also approved a contract agreement with the Meade Education Association for teachers.
