Authorities in Pennington County are investigating after a man died this morning at Deerfield Lake following an apparent medical emergency.
Emergency crews were dispatched just after 10:30 a.m. to a report of a person in distress. First responders found 68-year-old Terry Olson of Brookings, South Dakota. Despite lifesaving efforts, Olson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials say preliminary information suggests the death was the result of a medical event, and there is no indication of foul play.
Multiple agencies responded, including local fire and ambulance crews, search and rescue teams, and state officials.
The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says the incident remains under review and is extending condolences to Olson’s family and loved ones.
