The Black Hills National Forest is announcing temporary road and recreation area closures ahead of the July third fireworks celebration at Mount Rushmore.
Officials say the closures will be in effect July second and third as part of a safety and traffic management plan.
Areas impacted include Breezy Point and Wrinkled Rock recreation areas, along with Forest Service Roads 442 and 442-point-1-A, and Lafferty Gulch Road.
Forest officials say the restrictions are designed to help manage heavy traffic, protect visitors, and support the large-scale event.
Anyone planning to travel in the area is encouraged to check for updates before heading out. Information is available through the Black Hills National Forest, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, and the South Dakota Department of Transportation.
Drivers are urged to plan and allow extra time during the holiday travel period.
