A Sturgis man has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to receiving child pornography.
Federal officials say 21-year-old Luke Basche was sentenced on June 29. He will also serve five years of supervised release and pay more than $48,000 in restitution.
According to prosecutors, Basche used online chat applications for over two years to obtain and view illegal material. Investigators recovered thousands of images and videos from his devices and cloud accounts.
The case was part of the Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood initiative and involved multiple local and state agencies.
Basche has been remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
