A Florida man has been arrested following a shooting in Meade County that left a woman hospitalized.
Deputies responded to the 21000 block of Pleasant Valley Road Sunday morning after receiving a report of a person who had been shot. When law enforcement arrived, they found an adult woman inside a travel trailer with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Monument Hospital for treatment.
Investigators identified the suspect as 50-year-old Christopher Nappa of Dunedin, Florida. Authorities say the suspect and victim did not know each other and were staying in separate trailers at the time of the shooting.
Following an investigation, Nappa was arrested on charges of simple assault and reckless discharge of a firearm and was booked into the Meade County Jail.
The Meade County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and thanked the Sturgis Police Department for its assistance.
As always, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
