Firefighters are battling two active wildfires near Devils Tower in northeastern Wyoming, prompting evacuations and the temporary closure of the national monument.
The larger of the two fires, the 282-acre Left Creek Fire, remains at zero percent containment. The blaze has triggered Level 3 “GO” evacuations in the area and forced the complete closure of Devils Tower National Monument.
Meanwhile, the Newton Fire has burned approximately 200 acres east of Highway 24. Residents from Devils Tower Junction south to Highway 14 are currently under a “Set” evacuation status, meaning they should be prepared to leave if conditions worsen.
Officials say Highway 24 has temporarily reopened, but emergency crews continue working to contain both fires.
Residents and visitors are urged to stay alert, follow evacuation instructions, and avoid affected areas as firefighting operations continue.
