Drivers, pedestrians and cyclists across the Rapid City area should expect several road closures, detours and traffic delays as multiple construction and utility projects move into new phases this week.
Among the largest impacts, Interstate 90 near Piedmont will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Exits 44 and 48 beginning Monday as work continues on the Exit 46 reconstruction project.
In Rapid City, portions of East Meade Street, Maywood Drive and 12th Street are closed for sewer and natural gas infrastructure upgrades. A northbound ramp on St. Joseph Street beneath the Campbell Street viaduct will also temporarily close this week.
Pedestrians and bicyclists will face a long-term sidewalk closure near Post 320 along Canyon Lake Drive, while highway preservation work near Wall and Badlands National Park could cause delays of up to 15 minutes.
City officials are encouraging residents to allow extra travel time, follow detour signs and use caution in work zones.
