The Meade 46-1 School Board received an update Monday night on a proposed school district boundary reorganization involving eastern Meade County.
The district had previously discussed a plan with the Faith School District that would have transferred schools in the Opal, Hereford, Elm Springs, and Central Meade County areas to the Faith district, along with nearly 297 million dollars in taxable valuation.
However, the Faith School Board voted in July not to pursue the proposal.
School officials say organizers have since approached the Wall School District with a similar plan. Meade 46-1 Superintendent Wayne Wormstadt says the board will now have to decide whether to pursue discussions with Wall, New Underwood, or other neighboring districts.
In other business, the board approved several bus route changes, authorized a budget transfer for the purchase of seven milk coolers for the food service department, and reviewed the timeline for developing the 2027-2028 budget.
