Just days after the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally wrapped up, classic cars are taking center stage in Deadwood.
The annual Kool Deadwood Nites festival is now underway, running through August 23rd and bringing thousands of vintage vehicles and car enthusiasts to the historic mining town.
Organizers expect more than 800 registered classic cars this year, along with nearly 300 vehicles set to cross the auction block at Deadwood Mountain Grand. The event features car shows, poker runs, live entertainment, a People’s Choice competition, and the popular classic car parade on Main Street Sunday morning.
Businesses throughout Deadwood are welcoming visitors with special events and live music, while free shuttle service is available to help ease parking congestion.
For some participants, the event is also deeply personal. Montana resident Brian Bronowski returned for his tenth Kool Deadwood Nites, marking his first visit since the loss of his wife earlier this year. Bronowski says the annual trip was a tradition they shared and encouraged others to cherish time with loved ones.
Meanwhile, Deadwood police are reminding drivers and pedestrians to stay alert as thousands of visitors fill the city’s streets throughout the week.
