New details have been released in a fatal shooting case involving a Belle Fourche man now facing murder charges in Wyoming.
According to court documents, 24-year-old Drake Ingalls of Belle Fourche is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Jason Greene in Newcastle.
Investigators say the incident stemmed from a date between Ingalls and a Newcastle woman. Court records indicate the woman asked Ingalls to take her to Greene’s home after receiving a text message from him.
Authorities say accounts of what happened next differ. According to court documents, Ingalls told investigators he heard the woman yelling for help and armed himself before going to the residence. Ingalls claimed he saw Greene restraining the woman and shot Greene after demanding that he let her go.
However, the woman told investigators that Greene never assaulted her and that there was no physical altercation. Court documents state she told authorities that Ingalls “did not need to shoot that gun at all.”
