SHERIDAN, WYO. – If your Labor Day plans include alcohol, Sheridan police are urging you to plan a safe ride home before you go out.
The Sheridan Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across the country for the annual “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, running from August 19th through September 7th.
During the enforcement period, officers will increase patrols and be on the lookout for impaired drivers, especially during the busy Labor Day travel weekend.
Police say impaired driving remains a leading cause of traffic fatalities. Nationwide, nearly 30 percent of all traffic deaths in 2024 involved an alcohol-impaired driver, resulting in almost 11,900 deaths.
Officials encourage anyone planning to drink to arrange a designated driver, use a rideshare service, or find another safe way home.
The message from law enforcement is straightforward: If you’ve been drinking, don’t get behind the wheel.
