A 44-year-old Summerset man died Wednesday morning following a motorcycle crash northwest of Black Hawk, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just after 7 a.m. on Erickson Ranch Road near Escape Lane, about a mile northwest of Black Hawk.
Authorities say the man was riding a 2010 Triumph motorcycle westbound when he lost control while navigating a curve and laid the motorcycle down. The bike left the roadway, and the rider was thrown from the motorcycle.
The man suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead as a result of the crash.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. His name has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
The crash remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
