STURGIS, S.D. – Firefighters quickly contained a small grass fire north of Sturgis on Tuesday afternoon.
Crews from the Sturgis, Vale and Whitewood fire departments responded to the fire along Eden Road shortly before 1 p.m. Neighbors also assisted in the initial response.
Officials say the quick action of firefighters helped keep the blaze to less than one acre. No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Authorities are reminding residents to use caution as dry conditions continue across parts of the Northern Black Hills.
