STURGIS, S.D. – A new memorial bench honoring the memory of Parker Faber was unveiled Wednesday in Sturgis.
The bench was created by Marco Scott in memory of his best friend, who died in an accident on the Sturgis High School grounds earlier this year. The memorial is located near the skate park behind the Sturgis Community Center.
Sturgis Police Chief Geody Vandewater says the bench will serve as a lasting tribute and a place where friends can remember the time they shared with Parker.
More than two-thousand dollars was raised through community donations to fund the project. Any funds remaining after construction were donated to the Sturgis Animal Shelter, one of Parker’s favorite causes.
Matt Burge Construction donated the concrete work for the memorial.
