VERMILLION, S.D. – Belle Fourche remained in search of its first win of the season Friday night as the Broncs fell to Vermillion 52-22 in a Dakota 12 Conference matchup.
The Tanagers broke through for their first victory of the year, improving to 1-4, while Belle Fourche dropped to 0-5 on the season.
Vermillion’s offense found success throughout the night, building a lead and keeping the Broncs from mounting a comeback. Belle Fourche managed 22 points but could not keep pace with the Tanagers, who finished with 52.
The loss continues a difficult stretch for the Broncs, who have faced a challenging schedule to open the season. Despite the setback, Belle Fourche will look to regroup as it heads into a non-conference road game next week against Douglas.
The Patriots enter the matchup with a 1-4 record after suffering a 72-0 loss to Sturgis Brown on Friday.
Meanwhile, Vermillion will look to build momentum from its first win of the season when the Tanagers travel to face Dell Rapids on Oct. 2. Dell Rapids enters next week’s contest with a 3-2 record after falling 28-15 to Sioux Falls Christian.
Belle Fourche returns to action Friday, Oct. 2, in Box Elder against Douglas as the Broncs continue their search for their first win of the 2026 season.
