STURGIS, S.D. – Former Meade County Auditor Lisa Schieffer has announced her candidacy for Meade County Commissioner in District 1 as an independent candidate. Schieffer says she brings more than 30 years of public service experience, including 28 years as Meade County Auditor and her current role as city administrator in Summerset.
Schieffer says she is running to give rural communities a strong voice in county government and plans to focus on maintaining infrastructure, supporting farmers, ranchers, families and small businesses, protecting property rights, and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
A lifelong Meade County resident, Schieffer was raised on a ranch, attended Mud Butte Country School, graduated from Newell High School, and earned a degree from Black Hills State University. The general election is scheduled for November 3.
