SPEARFISH, S.D. – A proposed indoor baseball practice facility in Spearfish has cleared another hurdle toward construction.
On Monday, the Spearfish City Council authorized city staff to begin advertising a bid package for the project, which will be located at the Black Hills Energy Sports Complex.
Parks and Recreation Director Rex McDonald says city staff are working with the Spearfish Baseball Association and multiple city departments to finalize the materials needed for bidding. Rather than waiting for the council’s next meeting in early October, officials sought approval now to keep the project moving forward.
The indoor facility is intended to provide local baseball players with year-round training and practice opportunities. Construction bids are expected to be advertised once all project details are finalized.
