DEADWOOD, S.D. – Motorists traveling near Deadwood should plan for a weekend closure of U.S. Highway 14A beginning October 9th.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says the highway will close at 10 p.m. Friday for pipe installation work at the Broken Boot Gold Mine southwest of Deadwood. The road is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, October 12th.
During the closure, oversized vehicles will be detoured via U.S. Highway 85. Once the road reopens, paving operations over the new pipe will begin, with traffic reduced to a single lane and controlled by flaggers during daytime hours through October 16th.
Officials say two-way traffic will remain open overnight, and all work is weather-dependent.
