WASHINGTON, D.C. – A social media exchange between former South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and country music star Kacey Musgraves has drawn national attention after the two traded personal jabs online.
The dispute began after Musgraves shared a photo with Texas Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico. Noem responded by saying she would choose country artist Ella Langley over Musgraves and added that, if she were “choosin’ Texas,” she would support Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton rather than Talarico.
Musgraves fired back with a pointed response, writing that she didn’t believe Noem had “a dog in this fight,” but added that if she did, she “would have shot it.”
The comment referenced Noem’s 2024 memoir, No Going Back, in which she wrote about euthanizing a 14-month-old dog she described as dangerous and untrainable. The revelation sparked widespread controversy when the book was released.
The exchange quickly gained attention on social media, with supporters and critics of both figures weighing in as the online feud spread across political and entertainment circles.
